I get a call stating a computer has broken. Now this could be anything from losing a network connection to windoze freezing, but this one said it was just black and nothing is happening. So I go over to find her (an elderly lady) sitting in front of her workstation and sure enough, the problem was that although she had turned on the computer, her monitor was turned off.
And just now I got a call in which I got to (for the nth time) walk a user through on how to add a network printer and how to select the default printer.
Of course, whenever a user calls and says he/she/it can't login to email/network/database/whatever, the first question MUST be "Is your caps lock turned on?" I even have that classic UF strip taped on the side of my monitor, where Greg laments about his crosses to bear being stupid :-) |
