UF Cartoon Search for Opera 6/7 by GeroZ 2003-04-24 00:33:33
So -- I guess you're a geek, and so I assume you might be using Opera. One of Opera's unique features is its collection of search boxes - as a drop down list or as one field per search.

If you ever wanted to embed UF's keyword search for past cartoons into Opera - this is what you have to do:
  1. (Important!) Please close Opera. It's not recommended to perform the following actions with any Opera windows left open (although it might work to just restart Opera afterwards).
  2. Find the search.ini that applies to you. (In OP7 this might reside in your profile folder, OP6 it should reside in your Opera installation folder.)
  3. Add the following lines to search.ini:
    [Search Engine 14]
    Name=UF=User Friendly
    URL=http://www.userfriendly.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi?\
         \form=strip&searchobject=%s
    Query=
    Key=uf
    Is post=0
    Has endseparator=0
    Encoding=iso-8859-1
    Search Type=51
    Verbtext=17063
    Position=-1
    Nameid=0

    Important: The URL= line has to be one single line without any linebreak or whitespace. So put form= right after search.cgi? like ...search.cgi?form=....

    Be sure to replace "14" be the next free number. (If you plan to insert UF search higher in the list, you have to re-number all subsequent searches. You need to have a continuous order: 1, 2, 3, ...
  4. (Re-)Start Opera
THIS IS IT! From now on you can use the keyword search from the dropdown list.

And, even better: Simply type "uf searchphrase" in your adress field

-- This has been tested with Opera 6.05 and 7.1 - so it should work with 6.x and 7.x.
