It probably would have been fine if they prayed privately, but by broadcasting over a PA they were forcing everyone to be involved in their prayer. Other people who were just there for a school event had no choice but to listen. Apparently there was at least one person who wasn't of that faith (hence the complaint) and they were pushing their beliefs on him/her. That's a no-no at school.
