where to find the class files (IIRC argument "-cp <libraryOrDirectory>"). Again, the import statement helps you to cut down typing. Usually you have to reference a class by its complete path (java.lang.String, javax.swing.JButton etc). If you import a class you don't have to type the complete path, except the name isn't unique.
