| Faith, belief, religion, spirituality, whatever you want to call it is unmeasurable by scientific methods today. This doesn't mean that one can't insist that there must be scientific proof of a Higher Power before believing in it -- you'd be either an atheist or an agnostic humanist depending on your particular worldview. It also doesn't mean that one can't insist that their inuition is what leads them to believe what they do. Science as it is today can't answer all of our questions, and so spirituality is what fills some of the gaps.
Most people would consider me rational, fairly analytical and possessed of a reasonable grasp of critical thinking; I'm also someone you wouldn't call an atheist or agnostic either. Far above me in the food chain of accomplishment and genius are other highly educated people who profess a faith in a Higher Power, including Einstein and Hawking.
The best kind of education teaches you to think for yourself as opposed to what you should think. If part of your personal experience includes reasons to believe in a Higher Power, and you used your ability to think for yourself to arrive at that conclusion, who can tell you you're "wrong"? |
