Yeah - theoretically a Solaris kernel will run best on a SPARC, but I find it has become quite bloated. On the whole, no distro of linux is going to run any faster than anyother... they all use the same kernel. Granted - each distro has a different configuration OF the kernel, but if you dropped the same .Config into every distro, you'd theoretically see identical stats... of course... things like filesystem and what's running will also dramatically alter those figures. Don't forget - a distro really is a kernel, /etc/ and a wak of convenient programs. Really - who needs ls? ;)
