A well armed and well informed citizenry is the best guarantee of liberty.

I tend to believe this country's doing a pretty good job of breeding "sheep" as desertrat put it. Arming the same people who persecute these "unAmerican" protesters is almost as frightening as the "report your annoying neighbors, coworkers, and ex significant others as terrorists" call centers proposed in 2001.

I think his point is simply that these people exist, and their only creativity is in expanding upon any questionable "patriotic" policies when it results in an ego trip or other personal benefit. If you accept that they exist, acting as if they don't is rather foolish. And that's what Robbins, France, etc seem to have done.

I don't particularly want to live in a wolrd where this is the case, but don't really feel like going to all the trouble involved in the easiest alternative. I meant colonzing Mars, dammit. Get that straightjacket away from me. Changing how a large number of people don't think is more than a little daunting.
