I'm something of a civil rights and privacy nut. I thought that the Department of Homeland Defense was the worst idea to come from Joe Liebermann's mouth that I've ever heard.

That said, I defend Sarandon and Robbins' right to publicize their opinions. I also defend my right to disagree with their opinions. You're absolutely right, the spectre of McCarthyism is raising it's hideous countenance to the light again. McCarthy was closer to a totalitarian ideal than the people he accused of being "anti-American". To let anybody enforce laws that deal with political opinions is the very essence of "anti-Americanism".
