I remember back in the old Turbo-C and Borland C++ times, all the programmers tryed to get the smalll 14", 17" Monitors and the AutoCAD Guys gladly took everything from 19" to 21".
Why? Easy Answer: in the good old days you just had your Window with the code, and you didn't wanted to move your head all the time to read it.
The AutoCAD guys only used a minor space of the window to 'actually' draw ... the rest was full with menues to select.

Now?
We coders only use a small window of the screen to actually programm, the rest is full with icons and menues from Visual C++, Eclipse, or whatever you programm your current project in.
And the CAD guys? Well, last time I saw one of those, he had two 19" Flatscreen ... Dual-Head baby ... Dual Head.

Asking me, Sid is the good old fashon guy ... maybe still write his code in a EMACS on a plain-terminal-screen (you know, 'befor' you start xinit, or press CTRL+ALT+F1..7)
Me? I still have my 17" Monitor ... coding still fine with it ... but this damn debugign? in Eclipse you have different views, so you can arrange, hide and sho you menues different ... but Visual C++ ? ... hmm... when I get VisualStudio.net I guess I'll ask for something bigger as well. |
