"Anytime a single person prevents a group from exercising their religion as they see fit, he/she has violated the First Amendment as it relates to anyone not atheist/non-religious."

An individual's behavior is not discussed in the first amendment. It's all about the government respecting religion. So if someone came along and punched me in the nose to stop me from praying, he wouldn't be violating the first amendment (perhaps a lot of other laws, but that isn't the point) unless he was acting under the mantle of the government (such as a cop). The problem with prayer in schools is the people running the schools are under the mantle of government and as such are subject to the first amendment. They are not allowed to start a prayer.
