The source of our rights, as is declared by our Framers, is that all men are endowed by the Creator with inalienable rights. No other religion has that concept other than Christianity.

Our Founders formed this government so that they would be free from religious persecution and enforcement of a single religion (see Church of England). They believed in their Christian/Deist hearts that we have Free Will given to us by God, which among other rights, gives us the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They wanted a government that would allow them to exercise the rights given to them by God as they saw fit. This idea of a protective government is the basis of our Constitution, which is the laws by which our Government must act, not a declaration of our rights under this government (differentiate exercise of rights from rights themselves).

If you look into your history, and the writings of the Framers, you will definitely see a religious foundation, in which most of their beliefs are based in biblical/religous teachings.

Now, if you don't see that we have a government formed to provide for the free exercise of inalienable rights endowed upon us by the Creator, I'm not sure how much more I can say to show the historical truth.
