Separation of Church and State in the U.S.? by BuggedEyes2006-11-19 12:55:59
Meaning of separation by piroufreek2003-04-02 10:51:23
You are wrong. by Route 2003-04-02 11:00:30
The phrases BuggedEyes references were, as he stated, made "official" in the 1950s as a reaction to the Red Scare and the threat of communism (which some people associated with atheism). Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and the other Founders did not try to make room for "the influences of the religions of the governed." What does that mean, in any case?

The issue brought up was not whether students can get together and pray in schools. It whether the pledge to one's nation that students recite in schools should also involve acknowledgement of some higher power. I don't care if 99.9999999 percent of the nation believes in it (which they don't); they still have no right to force the remaining .0000001% of the students to say "under God".

And will you quit it already with the "I'm not trolling", "Don't blame me," "I'm not trying to convert you but you asked," et cetera? If you must get defensive, wait until someone accuses you. Sheesh.
