I mean that semi-literally, too. The culture of the Indian sub-continent has, for a very long time, centered around its mysticism. The result, to western eyes, is often confusing. Yes, India has brought forth incredible philosophies and works of art. And its history is as turbulent as any other. But its values and priorities, as a culture, are different from the more dynamic western culture. To understand India, one must adopt as much of the Indian worldview as possible. then, what becomes important is not to conquer the world, but rather to conquer the illusion that the world is important.
The population issue is kind of spooky, though; Dr. Malthus generally has the last laugh, and that could be tragic beyond nightmares. |
