Absolutely amazing by piroufreek2003-03-28 08:55:49
Welcome to the board, but I have a few things... by slacktime 2003-03-28 11:09:00
to dispute.

Before I start, let me establish that:

1. I'm a registered republican
2. I am fairly conservative in most of my views.

Now, in regards to your posting.

* I doubt that few here feel the world is out to get them. Which is not to say for sure that it isn't.
* President Bush is not a Nazi, that is true. He is an individual of strong personal belief and faith.
* Saddam Hussein is a man determined to maintain his seat of power, and uninhibited in the means he is willing to use to maintain and expand that power. His removal from power has become necessary, much of the world agrees with this, how to do it is often disputed.
* Socialism is a political philosophy that believes that the government has a responsibility to provide for the health, education, and protection for all its citizens, to accomplish this in practice has always resulted in a large government which has typically been somewhat inefficient and depersonalizing, but the political philosophy is not bad, and it provides a reasoned balance against capitalism, which although it (capitalism, which believes that society will care for itself and that governments sole requirement is to provide for national security) generally results in smaller more efficient governments, can be insensitive to human needs.
* Republicans are people who generally favor a more capitalistic view of government, some I agree with, some I don't. A political view is neither good or bad, it is the individual who is either good or bad, and even that is not absolute, for every man has some good and bad in him.
* Democrats are people who generally favor a more socialistic view of government, some I agree with, some I don't. See last point. (I always vote for the candidate, not along party lines.)
* Everyone here does have their own philosophy, listen, and you will learn much.
* The war is not specifically about oil, is oil involved in the mix... I'd say of course, as it is a major part of the Iraqi economy. The U.S. civil war was not about slavery either, it was about states rights vs. federal rights. But slavery and the right to secede from the union precipitated the conflict.
* War is always bad, that it is not always the worst is true. For example, I would fight in a war to prevent my country from being invaded. Freedom is worth fighting for, but war is always bad.
* Parents have a right to expect honor and respect, they can lose that right by not acting honorable. Spouse and child abuse should have no place in any home.
* I agree completely. A husband's duty is to help his spouse become everything SHE wants to be, and vice-versa.
* Some people act badly and their ability to do bad things must be restrained.
* The last national election was resolved by lawful means, let's improve the election procedure problems revealed by that election, and encourage more people to vote, so that future elections are handled better.
* Bill Clinton was Bill Clinton, he acted in accordance with his personal views and morals.
* I love people whose actions show that they are principled and show a desire to serve their fellowman, whatever their political stance.

Again welcome to UF.

Suggestion: Learn to distinguish important details, broad generalizations generally paint an imperfect picture...
