Ignorance is an absence of knowledge, and need not imply any fault on the part of those who are afflicted by it. What you describe, I would call "stupidity" or "foolishness" -- a willing refusal to open one's mind/eyes/thoughts/opinions. Whether such a refusal is stupid or merely foolish would depend on the attitude in which the refusal were made.
