Humans are worth more in my eyes and in my opinion because I am human. (well, most days, anyways)
That doesn't make my opinion universally and absolutely true, but it is one with which I'm sure most of my fellow humans can sympathize. And, being as I hold humans to be more valuable than other animals, vegetables, minerals, deities, and what-have-you, it probably goes without saying that the opinions of my fellow humans will influence me more than those of a seal.
In that light, it has absolutely nothing to do with whether I consider humans to be the dominant predator in the ecosystem (actually, I think humans are more scavengers than predators, but we can debate that elsewhere). |
