Football isn't soccer . Football is played with an oval ball and is , essentially , a ritualised form of bloodletting , originally, at least, designed to compensate the upper classes for the fact that they could no longer chop peoples' (ie lower class peoples') heads off at will . Soccer is a spectator sport designed to keep the lower classes occupied, and is played with a round ball.
