"I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Saw another, much longer rant about the subject a while ago, but that sentence pretty much summs up my stance on this sort of thing. I can understand people being upset about what was said, but I draw the line at the people who claim she had no right to say it. As Americans, they have *every* right to say what they feel, even if (or perhaps, especially if) it disagrees with the "desired" viewpoint.
Sure, there are going to be consequences.. but being forced to apologize and "make up" for the statements is rediculous! |
