In my case as I said somewhere above it was a light peck.
So the reaction of the kids in the car did go beyond regular acceptable social behavior.
We were also holding hands, but hey, nothing's wrong with that.
There was definitely some homophobic behavior present. I think that the situation wouldn't of happen if it was a straight couple kissing. In a reasonable worst case, that couple would've gotten a "get a room comment" along with a honk or something, but I don't think so, since again, it was a light peck.

I'd have much more fun with the whole situation if I'd get a comment like "get a room". That is, I'd rather get a comment like that instead of the one I got.

There was a cool incident I've had where me and my partner were horsing around on the grass at a university campus. That probably easily qualified as tripple PDA, as we were rolling on the grass like a couple of kids play-fighting. But then also it could've been seen as non-PDA at all. i.e. straight guys play fight sometimes too. There was a guy passing by and he said something like "..gee you guys, chill out" or something like that. So it was a "get a room" type of comment or "guys chill out" type comment, depending on how the guy saw the situation. Since he didn't know we were gay, I'm not sure exactly how he saw us. We laughed, and it all happened in a good way.

I'm not for making people uncomfortable. I'm more for having fun with my partner and other people having fun with us.
By this I mean, i.e. when I see somebody holding hands, this may trigger me and my partner holding hands. It's a safe behavior. Or it should be safe. I think it encourages people to openly show love, and I think it's a good thing.

On the other hand, I can feel a bit uncomfortable when a couple is really doing (PDA)^5, and I usually don't do that. There are exclusions, of course, and there are also places for this too. i.e. I think it's ok to do (PDA)^5 in a secluded area in the park.

Now back to the original situation. Even if I was really getting it on, still, the behavior of the kids in the car went beyond the regular acceptable social behavior. Why ? I don't know, yet my hypothesis are: probably because of homophobia, or probably because they had testosterone rush, because they had girls in the car and wanted to show off by some weird reason, because of peer pressure, because of still shaky image of gay people in society or who knows what. Neither of these arguments, however, justify their behavior.
So.. there :)
