You can't take GeekPrincess's post out of context. Her statement, in and of itself, doesn't say anything homophobic. However, this is her response to a TLP in which someone described cruel harassment following a PDA. She labeled it "another perspective". Given that the lovers in question weren't merely subjected to a juvenile "Eeeew!" but vicious name-calling and a threat of eternal damnation, it is obvious that the reaction stemmed from hatred of gays, not failure to "appreciate" others' PDAs. Making a post that said PDAs should be limited to a light peck, nothing "outrageous", is not homophobic in itself. But in the *context*, it sounds as if she considers gay PDAs outrageous and attention-drawing. If she was merely making an observation on the general nature of public response to PDAs, she should have said so.
Missing this in her first post may have been understandable or excusable, but she did not follow up when she was told clearly what it means in this context. That indicates that she is willing to let it stand as-is, with all its implications. |
