Aparently it didn't hit the platter all that hard and about 1/3 of the damaged clusters were unrecoverable.. not to mention after I first got the thing with a few bad clusters on it, I ran spinrite past it then also, and it restored all but one (of like 5 sections) the "bad" clusters back to use, enabling me to compress the drive to save space (it was a 800Meg drive)
