We speak/spell a different dialect of English than you do. And yeah, we Americans spell it 'check'. Does it really bother people that much?

Hyzenthlay has a good point when she said the word has different meanings depending on whether it's used as a noun or verb. It's very easy to figure out. And there are many words that have multiple meanings. But since Americans do it, it has to be wrong. Whatever.
