is somewhat overlooked. Since the creation of the UN, there has been, at least in theory, a recognition of severe consequences if an attack is made.
Since the US may not be vulnerable to such consequences, and will probably block resolutions condemning it and proposed sanctions, this attack will undermine the protection that the UN has represented since its beginning.
If the US succeeds in this aggression, then nobody will be safe. The US can simply make demands, with thinly veiled threats about 'terrorist supporters', and any government that wishes to stay in place pretty much has to accede to whatever demands the US makes.
This is the danger that Bush's actions present.
