I was just emailed this by slacktime 2003-03-18 09:19:52
From the company travel department

Terror alert code has been raised from Yellow (Elevated) to Orange (High) effective Monday evening, March 17, 2003. Homeland Security has requested that all cities increase the number of security forces including National Guard units around high risk areas, including but not limited to hotels, places of worship, large business centers, power facilities, government buildings, tunnels and bridges.

American Express One expects the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) to step up security procedures at U.S. airports due to the Code Orange warnings. At this time, no changes have been confirmed at major airports. However, travelers, should be aware and prepared for the following:

  • Random car searches prior to entering airport property
  • Restricted parking near airport
  • Traffic lanes closed for drop-off and pick-up
  • Increased security presence in and around airport facilities
  • Additional security checks and increased random baggage searches during security processing

Luckily I'm not planning any travel soon
    *Sigh*
