How can you believe that terrorist would keep attacking your country if you did nothing to piss them off? They don't do it for fun you know. They believe they have been wronged by your country, therefore they attack and kill people in your country. Judging by the lack of support for this war, it seems that maybe some people agree with their stance (although not with their actions). The USA has done nothing to disprove their enemies' stance that they are just a big bully.
It is amazing how America is still so scared from 9/11; scared enough that Bush can make a country with a few missles that travel 180km seem like a threat to their national security. If the primary reason for going into Iraq was to deal with Hussein's cruelty to his own population, I think the war would have more support. But acting on your sovereingty to protect your national security? Give me a break. Pretty soon you'll go after countries with pea shooters and potato guns.
And don't give me the link to terrorism crap. They haven't shown a scrap of evidence to support that. Even if there were a link, don't you think they'd maybe believe they have just cause for it? (Personally I prefer peace, but it is possible that Iraq has beliefs more in line with those of Bush). Your country has been dropping bombs on them almost almost monthly since the early 90s. Who is the aggressor here?
Your argument is that you'd have to sit and beg others not to attack. Mine is that if you didn't go out of your way to piss off every other country in the world, you'd have a lot more allies and a lot less foes. I agree with having Saddam removed from power, but I do not agree with the methodology or reasons that the USA are using. |
