Question of the Day! by kickstart2006-11-19 12:23:33
Worked and went home to watch "Children of Dune" by NOLAWitch 2003-03-18 05:41:56
which is pretty freaking good. It's sticking pretty close to the book. The actors were well cast. The cinematography is lush. I only have one quibble with the general mise en scene and that's that there is no popular music for anyone in the Dune universe. Radio, or a simulacrum of it, will never die. People like to listen to music and yet in most movies there is little attention to what the characters are listening to. The old masters handled it nicely during the '30s and '40s with bands in clubs and torch singers as the backdrop for sophisticated sleuths and such to have their stories.

Of course, with the exception of Gurney Hallak's playing music in the book series, it wasn't addressed by Herbert either. You'd think that the TV series producers would have found a way to deal with it.

Oh dear. Am I ranting or just blithering?
