It'd be similar whenever you go. The thing to do is accept them and work around them. Tell your host what you're thinking, they're probably the best person to give you advice on what's likely to happen, if they say it's OK then go and enjoy yourself. Take whatever precautions you deem necessary but don't cripple your enjoyment of your holiday. For gawdssake though don't spend the entire time there in front of CNN, you can do that at home.
