The flaw in the "wait for UN approval" argument. by slayer2003-03-18 01:02:39
  Actually.. by NuclearWinter 2003-03-18 01:11:30
Res. 1441 declared that Iraq was in material breach. That's already been established. The only reason we were wanting to go for the second resolution was to try and get those people that felt we weren't doing everything in the way of diplomacy to change their minds and say we were. Trying to rally support basically. When 1441 was passed (According to Mr. Powell) it was stated that no other resolution would be needed for use of force. So we don't need UN Approval, and I should hope that with the crappy military that Iraq has, we don't need any other country's help. UN approval is just a way of "saving face" in the global view. Of course we'll look like mean evil people for a while in the countries that voted against it, but after that time passes, things will return to "normal". I hope. :)
