Great author if you're in for something weird with some fantasy, some scifi and some aparently "normal world" in it. The books are "Fool on the Hill" and "Sewer, Gas & Electric: The Public Works Trilogy". He's done a new one too, "Set This House in Order: A Romance of Souls" but I haven't read that yet and it appears to be pretty different from the others.
Additionally I highly recommend the "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn"-Trilogy by Ted Williams and the "Necroscope"-Series by Brian Lumley (at least the first 3-5 books. After that it is still great but becomes a bit repetitive) - oh, and naturally the "Avalon"-Trilogy by Marion Zimmer Bradley - not to speak of the classics from Tolkien and Weis/Hickman, but who hasn't read those yet? :)
