Because a boxer is not someone who strives to use rational, civilized behavior. A boxer trains his fists. And when someone who obviously isn't an expert tells him what to do, his reactions are probably unconscious (and entirely appropriate, in my opinion).

I guess it's a good analogy up to the part where the boxer reacts. ;-)
