We have to provide ID every time we vote. As for the "once bitten, twice shy" argument, it's time to wake up and realize this is the 21st century. If any disadvantaged group wants to claim what is rightfully theirs, they will have to take the chance that they may get hit again. Very likely they won't, and if they do, there are lots of enlightened white folks ready to remedy the wrong. Risk is part of change. Frankly, this appears to be more rhetoric from "leaders" who find it easier to hold onto their power by scaring their constituents with the ghosts of the past rather than moving forward with those of us who would like to play fair for everyone.
