from about the elbow.
The technology is available even in wet Britain to run a house all year from solar panels jusr covering the roof.
Bristol University has developed a unit the size of three office desks capable of producing hydrogen pressurising and delivering to vehicles, when supplied with power and water. Unit cost under well under £1m (probable groos exageration)
Assuming £1m cost per unit to deliver and install (sod the fact it falls sharply after the first hundred units) 1000 units hit £1bn this is significant infrastucture in Britain and is only 2/5 of what the government is spening on the war.

Cost of war calculated by costs of:
transport of equipment to zone.
replacement of damaged equipment
replacement of used equipment (bullets bombs etc)
etc etc...

other technologies:
BMW's latest Hydrogen powered vehicle has indistinguishable performance from the equivalent petrol version. top speed 155mph etc.

War adds to the cost of the military. I think the generals just want to play. I've done my time with an accountant, how can you put up with the boredom???

The Arab nations have minimal natural resourses away from the oil, and nothing exportable, no major industry etc. Once the oil trade is gone there will be no external income, terrorism will then become an expensive hobby before becoming unaffordable.

Whereas the current attitude of the US government will cause rapid proliferation of nuclear weapons by countries desperate to be able to protect themsleves from US agression. Kennedy said you cannot enforce a pax americana. Bush is about to prove this.
