Bush and intelligence by BrainBug 2003-03-07 08:46:58
Hey, lured you in with that subject? Well, great - but for once I don't mean to pick on dubya's IQ (not directly anyway).

Yesterday I saw a report on TV concerning Bush's intelligence information on Iraq. They interviewed several former and current CIA agents and quoted a report from head of CIA J.Tenet all saying the following:

- CIA knows nothing about chemical weapons or c weapon factories in Iraq
- If Saddam still has C-weapons they are burried so good that it would take him weeks if not months to reactivate them and bring them to use
- There is no known connection between Saddam and any terrorist organization including Al Quaida. Furthermore Saddam "draws a strict line" on that matter and doesn't seem to want any such connection.
- Iraq won't manage to create nuclear weapons before the end of the decade
- Iraq doesn't stir or make any threating moves and is unlikely to do so in the predictable future

Oh, and based on that a former CIA agent who was around since Nixon said that Bush was the most stubborn president he had to deal with and completely advice resistent...

And only a few hours after aforementioned report became known Bush seems to have given a press conference blurping out his usual sermon:
- Saddam supports terrorist organizations and might give them weapons of mass destruction at any time
- Iraq is an immediate thread because of the chemical weapons they already have and can use at any time and the nuclear weapons they soon will have

So, has anybody seen/heard anything more about that CIA report? Any comments about these somewhat contradicting positions?
