Or even my post? I'd have to say no if you started the thread apparently assuming that I believe in God.
You started arguing whether we can know that we exist, or that the sun will come up tomorrow, as if you can't be sure. If you're unwilling to accept the empirical evidence of looking at yourself, or seeing the sun come up, then any argument will not be convincing. We can only prove something based on whether we trust our ability to observe. If you doubt that, then anything said to you will be futile.
Of course, I find the stance that there is no way to prove one's own existence to be a load of crap. If you can't find something better to do with your time, then please, don't inflict your philosophical brain farts on everyone else. I'm not saying that this is necessarily your position, but that it's a meaningless one in general. It's meaningless to this discussion, and just about any other discussion. If we really don't exist, then there's really no reason for one to go on spouting the fact, is there?
Why should anyone need to disprove the Matrix theory? The burden of proof is on the one making the claim, not the one refuting it.
I don't believe in God. This is not to say that God does not exist, but that there is no empirical evidence for his existence. If some turns up, and it stands up to scrutiny, then I might just change this belief. However, it hasn't happened. It is a matter of faith, and without empirical evidence, I have none. |
