I'm not sure what you'd have to choose for 1., I guess the later one (PIII) would suffice, however if you experience problems like hangs with that switch back to P-Pro/Celeron. Usually a kernel will also run on a processor even if you selected a higher one in that menu, still usually doesn't mean always. For your second question, if you enabled SMP there it is ok. There is no more to do. You should regard that only programs that run in different threads or many programs at the same time will show higher performance. I don't know how you then can actually see(prove) if it uses both, anyone wants to join in and tell ?
