| Guilty until proven innocent isn't warranted based on stereotyping unless you're an idiot. Sorry, but that's how I feel. Whether or not I think it's likely, I don't approve of teachers doing that and that is what I mean by "I don't expect that" (ie, it is my expectation for their behavior, whether or not they are living up to it).
Maybe you make poor choices as to which of our "countrymen" you spend your time with? I don't suffer fools gladly and as such, those I spend my time with all fall outside your stereotype.
As for harassment, it is either targeted, specifically offensive (ie, you should know better than to express that under those circumstances), or repeated. These schools had already been approached by the to inform them that these children would have parents deployed and could possibly have realted emotional issues. It is irresponsible for this to be ignored. That's like a school being aware a child is homosexual and claiming in health class "STDs are all homosexuals' fault". It is not something the instructor can prove, it is inappropriate for the classroom, and it is directly harmful to the child's well-being whether or not the child is singled out.
My point with regards to giving offense is that few people take you seriously when you slam a large group with a generic stereotype. Giving offense in that fashion is counterproductive to having your opinion seriously considered. |
