I'm not sure if it was a private conversation. It could be considering the topic, yet it was taking place in a public area. I was listening to it along with several other people who weren't directly participating and sitting some distance away from the speaker. However, these people were already accepted as 'being there'. I guess it's the new person that came up startled the discussion. I'm not sure what would've happen if the lady didn't come too close to guys A and B, but set next to the other people.

The lady could have come up to them directly, or set next to the other people, which would be in the vicinity of guys A and B (not directly next to them). She came up more directly to A and B.
