And if you read other sections of the D&C you'll discover that Joseph Smith had no problem expressing himself in 1832 english either.
It is not unusual for God to inspire prophets to write in language that they wouldn't normally use in everyday life. Isaiah is an excellent example of that. His writings are not "current" with the form of everyday speaking of the people of ancient times. His writings are a formal form of verse and style that was known to the people of the time, but was NOT common usage.
Joseph is just a man as you say, if you can't bring yourself to read, learn and understand the things he wrote that is your business. Enjoy your ignorance, it bothers me not at all.
In the meantime, I'll continue to read and learn and study not only the things Joseph Smith wrote, but the inspired writings a many, many great men and women. |
