The Kingdom of Glytchonia is a small, devout nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard- working, cynical population of 10 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
The large government juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Education, and Social Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 20%. A robust private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Retail, and Arms Manufacturing industries.
Married couples must call each other "darling" or risk a fine, young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, the government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Glytchonia's national animal is the thing and its currency is the goonie. |
