In fact....they were on their 3rd Pope when John supposedly wrote Revelations. How many re-writes and modifications there have been since then I don't know. But either way, just like pretty much everything else in the Bible, people just made things up. And in this case, those people were the same people that created the Catholic church. And they've had a good portion of the population hoodwinked pretty much ever since then...
