I'd slap on 95b. It's lightweight, and as far as 640k model goes, it's fairly reliable in comparison to others *cough*98 first release*cough*. Unless it has USB, then use 98SE. I don't know much about the linux world, so I can'rt help you with that, but I would imagine a version of Linux from that general era would run on it, since the OS would've been designed to run on that type of machine.
