Mormons (at least the central Church of JEsus Christ of Latter Day Saints) do NOT practice multiple marriages in any way, shape, or form. Actually, it's a good way to get kicked out of the LDS IIRC.
There WAS a church teaching in the past supporting Multiple wives, (probably to get their population up for self defense ... they DID go to war with the US Govt over Utah for awhile ...
That teaching has been CHANGED however, and modern mormons do NOT practice this.
There ARE however splinter groups and some wierd sects in UTah that still believe in it. I think the US Govt prosecuted a famous one recently. they got him on a statutory rape charge IIRC since a couple of his "wives" were <~14 when he "married" them! |
