Sharpies=Death continued by lord_dolphin 2006-11-19 12:55:59
It was only on for such a short time I figured I'd post it again:

Sharpies are not safe for marking CDs, read about it here

In response to some of the posts made in the previous topic. Yes branded CDs and one's with a protective coating *DO* handle the corrosion better then unbranded CDs, however EVEN THEY will succumb eventually.

As for what was said about memorex... be careful with them. Especially the Memorex platinums, they are particularily crappy. I don't think a single one of my memorex platinums (out of about 100pcs...we bought a bunch of 12packs) survived even a year :( The problem with Memorex is that they buy from many different manufacturers, without ANY consideration of quality! I've seen them buy from: Prodisc, Ritek, CMC, DST, Taiyo Yuden, Postech, and InfoDisc. The Taiyo Yuden and Prodisc one's are good and ok respectivly, the other ones are crap. Yes you will get a completed burn 95% of the time, but trust me, the CD is still crap. It is usually chalk full of C2 errors, (see www.cdrinfo.com for more info on C2 errors). SO yeah, I don't like memorex.
