Humour isn't always used just to enjoy people. Most of the times it's used to handle frightening situations (almost every political joke was created in a country without freedom, e.g. Nazi Germany and communist countries) or anger (e.g. jokes about Bill Gates or Microsoft), to "transport" a message or some sort of moral, or to make fun of an enemy ("talk him small", make the enemy seem worthless).

There are a lot of jokes about the military and the war. Guess why...
