            Bottom line, folks: by rapido75 2006-11-19 12:55:59
No one had a choice in their sexuality (despite what they themselves might think). It's part of your personality, both what your sexuality is and how you approach it. Some people may be born gay and some may develop towards that way during their development, but no one has a real choice in it. Some people can 'step outside' their proclivity (I learned that word from NOLAWitch, yesterday :), but they can't change their actual sexuality (unless they undergo a personality change). It's part of their humanity.

I believe homosexuality may technically go against nature (since, according to nature, sex is for reproduction, thus explaining the pregnancy risk everytime a man and woman get their groove on), but so is sex for any other reason than procreation. But it's much of what makes up our humanity. It's what makes us unique. In the end, our sexuality is what drives us, which is why I don't like the puritannical attitudes people still have about sex (that it's 'dirty'), but that's another heated discussion.

As for the religious reasons against homosexuality, I posted this on gaygeek's diary about my theory on that. I just don't understand why some people would want gay folks to lead fake and unhappy lives just so they themselves (the 'some people' in question) would feel better. That's very selfish
