I would agree about the "NOT Fun" part though...
In 1989 I flipped a Toyota at a diagonal end-over-end
on a wet curve... crushed the top across the passanger
side, but landed back on it's feet in the ditch.
I remember trying to manuver & hold onto the road, until
realizing that it was a lost cause- and then reaching across
to grab the other seat as it flipped, since I didn't want my
head to be hit if/when the roof caved in.
When everything came to a stop, I had glass in my hair, and
some back pain from the sudden twists & jarring, but no real
injuries besides some scratches & slight bruising. I did a
quick 'body check', found nothing missing, and walked back
up the road to a farm house I remembered seeing nearby.
In fact, the engine was still running when it landed, so I
shut it off- and after it was pulled out of the ditch, there
was no fluid leak, the battery hadn't cracked, and I wound up
starting the car & limping 20 miles to my original destination.
(a) I was lucky (b) Some Toyota's are built pretty darn tough.
Accidents are *still* no fun. |
