Licensing Check Announced
Journal Staff Report
"The Business Software Alliance has announced plans to contact
more than 500,000 businesses in seven metro areas including
Albuquerque suggesting they make sure all company software is
properly licensed.
The alliance said it has collected more than $83 million in penalties
from companies using unlicensed software in the past 12 years.
The organization said it has launched what it calls a "Software
Grace Period" in Chicago, Boston, Albuquerque, Dallas, Louisville,
Ky., Harrisburg, Penn., and Seattle. The grace period lasts through
February and is designed to give businesses a chance to acquire the
licenses they need to get legal without facing penalties, it said.
Businesses trying to determine whether their organization is
using unlicensed software can download the free BSA Software
Audit tool at www.bsagrace.com or call (877) 536-4BSA." Copyright, Abq. Journal |
