she was the smartest, sweetest cat in the world.
She looked the part of a pure Russian Blue, but had the faintest tabby stripes that could only be seen in the right light. And, she had racoon-like rings on her tail. But everything else was pure R. Blue. Bright green eyes, triangular head, lean limbs, and that beautiful sleek, gunmetal grey coat!
I had this sofa with built-in recliners. She would climb up inside it when I had the recliner out, reach out between the back cushions and bat at my neck.
And like defdood's Kit Kat, Shadow would try to wake me up by sitting on my chest. But only on my days off, when I slept later. She would reach up to my face and, using just the tips of her claws, pull at my eyelids, trying to open my eyes.
Shadow was taken away by persons unknown shortly after we moved to S. California. She was let out on a Saturday morning, early, and by 10a.m. was nowhere to be found. She didn't get lost- she knew where home was, and she was tagged. But she was friendly and fearless to people. Someone picked her up and took her, knowing full well that she was an owned cat.
I still miss her. |
