as the video files and any graphics required it would find it in the appropriate directory on the disk. Now for things external you could have in the html file on the cd a link to something not on the cd but on the web and clicking it as I said will make it look for it online (or try to connect and look for it online).

I suppose for those two clueless to get the "put the cd in and open index.htm on it with your browser" he might be able to make some form of auto launch like some cd's have that automatically launch the html file in the browser.

But yes if it's a website on the web not on a local cd it wouldn't work to tell it to point at the cd... unless (and I've had friends with bbs do this) it is set up through telnet or some form of web portal and the computer in question that holds the cd's has a multiple changer and is multi node capable... they yes indeed it can aim at a cd from the web... but that computer holding the cd must always be connected to the web and as mentioned would likely need multi nodes enabled and multi cdrom capability...
