I think it's cute. I fit neither category having never even owned either of the above vehicles. Best of all... it's FUNCTIONAL. I love the room, the functionality, and the hose-out-ability. I transport kids and dogs and large crates and objects. Flat floors, tons of leg room, and cargo capacity... and hose-out-ability (there should be a word for that)... are much higher on my list than external esthetics. They're all boxes anyway. I glory in the outright, in-your-face boxiness ;)
